Funded Places

Garforth Day Nursery and Preschool are registered to provide 2, 3 and 4 year funding and from September 2024 we will be offering the newly introduced 9 month funding. From September 2024 all children 9 months+ in England are entitled to 570 hours of free early education or childcare per year. This entitles each child to 15 hours per week over 38 term time weeks of the year. The 38 weeks are spread over three terms, Autumn Term, Spring Term and Summer Term with the exact number of weeks set by the Local Council and varying slightly each year in line with their academic calendar. In addition to the universal entitlement some families may be eligible to claim the extended entitlement which is an additional 15 hours per week, giving a total of 30 hours or 1140 per year.

Funded places

You are able to start claiming funded childcare the term after your child turns 9 months. The date you can claim will depend on the child’s birthday.

1^st January – 31^st March – The beginning of the term after 1^st April – Summer Term

1st April – 31^st August – The beginning of the term after 1st September – Winter Term

1^st September – 31^st December – The beginning of the term after 1st January – Spring Term

Children show positive attitudes towards their learning. They behave very well.

The progressive curriculum supports and builds on what the children know and can already do.

Ongoing assessments swiftly identify any possible gaps in learning. Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are extremely well supported and make strong progress in all areas of learning.
